Malphite je lak ali moćan counter AD melee šampionima, oslanjajući se na svoj ult. Koristi svoj ult za ključne engage-ove ili povoljne disengage-ove, ne samo kao escape sa niskim health-om. Tank build-ovi su generalno optimalni, ali full AP build može biti jak protiv squishy timova ili ako tvom timu nedostaje damage. Čuvaj se AP šampiona (kao što je Rumble) i ultimate-stealer-a kao što je Sylas. Koristi svoj Q za efikasan lane poke. Comet je dobar za rani poke, dok Grasp nudi sustain u melee matchup-ima. Prilagodi svoje rune na osnovu suparničkog matchup-a.
